Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that he “can only thank” Nerazzurri President Steven Zhang for his work over the last three years.

Inzaghi spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, following his team’s 1-1 Serie A draw against Lazio. The coach reacted to the reports that Zhang is on his way out of the club.

Zhang has been Inter President for the entire time that Inzaghi has been coach.

However, it now appears as though the tenure of the Chinese businessman at the top is coming to an end.

Reports suggest that Suning will not be able to repay their debt to Oaktree Capital before the start of this week. Therefore, the US-based fund will be able to repossess the current owners’ controlling shares of Inter.

This will bring a change at the top of the Inter hierarchy. The club will have to elect a new President almost certainly.

However, that won’t negate the work that Zhang has done up to now – culminating in this season’s Serie A title.

Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi: “Can Only Thank Steven Zhang”

Asked if he would reassure the fans about the future, Inzaghi said “Absolutely, yes.”

“I was with Marotta, Ausilio, and Baccin, yesterday,” the coach continued.

“And the CEO has already spoken about it.”

Inzaghi said that “Personally, I can only thank Steven Zhang. He’s been an excellent President, he’s always supported me and put up with me.”

“As far as the technical questions, it’s right for Marotta to speak on them, and whoever else is responsible,” the Inter coach added.

“I can only say thank you for the organization that I’ve found here at Inter.”

Of the title celebrations, Inzaghi said that “Since April 22nd I’ve let myself ease up. I’ve enjoyed all these times, the celebrations with the fans.”

“I’ve spent more time with my family. Once we reached the top, we took our foot off the gas a bit, as we should.”

Inzaghi said that “This is a moment to be shared, including with our families.”
