Just one day after offering talented Division II defensive line transfer target Jay’viar Suggs, LSU football has officially inserted themselves as one of the top-four schools remaining in his overall recruitment.

LSU football hasn’t given up on landing a defensive line transfer target quite yet, and it might just pay off in the end after all.

Within the last week or so, the Tigers have missed out on several big-time transfer portal targets within the defensive interior including Damonic Williams (Oklahoma), Simeon Barrow (Miami) and CJ West (Indiana), and it felt like momentum was going in a very wrong direction for the program.

With that said, things might finally be turning around after the purple and gold extended an offer to Division II standout Jay’viar Suggs just yesterday.

At the time, the 6-foot-3, 282-pound Michigan-based defender had already released a list of his top-six schools, and it looked like a bit of a longshot for LSU to fight their way in. However, just one day later, things are already looking good for coach Brian Kelly’s squad, as he went ahead and updated his list this afternoon to include the purple and gold.

Notably, with the insertion of the Tigers in his list of top schools, three programs simultaneously fell out, as they replaced Arkansas, Florida State and USC, all of which had previously been included as a contender. Now, with the most recent list coming out, it appears that LSU, Kentucky, Michigan and Wisconsin are the final remaining schools, as he made sure to specify that his recruitment was now closed.

Entering his third season of college football, Suggs has proven to be a productive defender, even despite being slightly undersized. In two seasons, the Flint, MI, product amassed 42 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, nine pass deflections and two forced fumbles, essentially doing it all for his team.

He’ll enter the Division I ranks with two years of eligibility remaining and will likely expect to see the field relatively early on for whichever program he eventually ends up with.
